Winter Universiade Team Canada final roundup: Universiade wraps up with 5 Canadian medals
ERZURUM, Turkey (CIS) – Canada claimed bronze in
men’s hockey Sunday on the final day of the 25th Winter
Universiade to finish the Games with a total of five medals,
including one gold, three silver and one bronze.

In men’s hockey, the Canadian team comprised of all-stars from the Ontario University Athletics conference defeated Kazakhstan 3-1 to reach the podium for the third straight Universiade, and for the seventh time in the last eight Games going back to 1997. See separate game recap for men’s hockey.
In alpine skiing, Olivier Lacaille of Montreal finished 11th overall in the men’s slalom, the final alpine skiing event of the Games. The University of Montreal student crossed the line in 1:48.18, three seconds back of first place.
Laval University’s Louis Morin of Pointe-Claire, Que., was 29th in 1:59.83, Braden Long of Clarksburg, Ont., was 40th in 2:01.09, while Philippe Rivet of Saint-Lambert, Que., did not finish the race.
In snowboarding, the women’s slopestyle was cancelled due to high winds.
