2011 Summer Universiade: Canada’s men’s volleyball coaching staff announced
OTTAWA (Volleyball Canada) – Volleyball Canada announced Tuesday that Larry McKay of the University of Winnipeg was named head coach for the men’s Team Canada at the World University Games.

McKay has been head coach for the University of Winnipeg Wesmen men’s volleyball team for 22 seasons. Last year he was the head coach of Canada’s National 'B' squad and was part of the National A team’s staff in preparation for the world championships.
He has led the Wesmen to seven national championship medals and was named the CIS’ coach of the year for the 1992-93 and 2001-02 seasons. In 2003 he was Team Canada’s head coach at the men’s under-21 world championships.
His assistant coaches for the World University Games are Ben Josephson of national champion Trinity Western University in Langley, B.C., and Steve Leknois of Royal Military College in Kingston, Ont.
The World University Games are August 12-23 in Shenzhen, China. The team will hold their selection camp in Gatineau from May 7-13, and will begin their training and preparations for the summer immediately upon the selection of the team.
About the Summer Universiade
The Summer Universiade is an international multi-sport event that takes place every two years, and is second only to the Olympic Games in the number of participating athletes and countries. The Universiade is open to competitors between the ages of 17 and 28 in the year of the Games who are full-time students at a post-secondary institution (university, college, CEGEP) or have graduated from a post-secondary institution in the year preceding the event.
