BlackBerry - CIS Top Ten Tuesday (#22): Calgary, Regina ranked No. 1 heading into Nationals
OTTAWA (CIS) – Three teams from the University of Calgary
and one from the University of Regina are ranked No. 1 heading into
this week’s Canadian Interuniversity Sport swimming and
wrestling championships.
In swimming, the Dinos top the women’s and men’s
rankings as they get set to defend both CIS team titles in their
own pool, starting on Thursday. Calgary swept the national banners
for the first time in school history a year ago. The 2011 CIS meet
concludes on Saturday with preliminaries kicking off at 10 a.m.
Mountain Time and finals at 6 p.m. MT daily.
In wrestling, the Calgary women and Regina men are seeded No. 1
going into the CIS meet set for Friday and Saturday at Lakehead
University in Thunder Bay. New national champions will be crowned
on Saturday as Simon Fraser – which now competes in the NCAA
– swept the team banners last season.
In other CIS sports, Saskatchewan (women’s basketball),
Carleton (men’s basketball), McGill (women’s hockey),
UNB (men’s hockey) and Windsor (women’s &
