Badgers women wrestlers capture gold at Ontario seniors; men finish second

BARRIE, Ont. - The Brock University men's and women's wrestling teams competed at the 2009 Ontario Senior Championships where the women placed first overall and the men second as a team.

The Brock women's team captured three championship golds and 10 medals in total. The Badgers were led by Alana King (48 kg), Diana Ford (51 kg) and Deborah Jehu (67 kg) who all won their respective weight classes. Placing second overall were Jasmine Mian (48 kg), Jade Parsons (51 kg), Laura Steffler (63 kg) and Rebecca Levitt (67 kg). Capturing bronze for Brock were Natasha Chang (59 kg), Alexis Kilroy (63 kg) and Marisaa Sorrell (67 kg).

For the Brock men, Jake Hergenhein (55 kg), CJ Hudson (66 kg) and Chris Laverick (74 kg) all had outstanding tournaments finishing first overall in their respective weight classes. Jake Needham finished second overall at 60 kg while Brad Trimble lost to Laverick in the finals of 74 kg.
