Edwards named Western Mustangs women's volleyball head coach

London, Ont - The University of Western Ontario has appointed Dave Edwards as the head coach of the Western Mustangs women's volleyball team. Edwards stepped into the head coach role for the 2010-2011 season and lead the team to a 15-4 record and an OUA championship.

Previously Edwards served as the associate and assistant coach of both the men's and women's

volleyball teams at Western. Edwards has been on the Mustangs women's coaching staff since 2002. He is a well-respected coach and colleague within the volleyball community in Ontario.

Western Director of Sports and Recreation Services, Therese Quigley commented that "Dave is an outstanding leader, coach and mentor. His contribution to Mustang volleyball has been significant. I am both pleased and proud to have him continue in the role of head coach of our Mustangs Women's Volleyball program.

Dave Edwards indicated that "it is an honour to be named to this position and to continue my association with such an outstanding university, my alma mater, The University of Western Ontario.

I am committed to building on the success we achieved as a team last year. I am excited about the prospects for next year and the future of Western volleyball."
