No. 5 Pandas take opening match from No. 6 Spartans
LANGLEY, BC – The No. 6 Trinity Western University
women’s volleyball team fell 3-1 to the No. 5 University of
Alberta in the opening match of the two match weekend series Friday
night at the Langley Events Centre in Langley, B.C. The 19-25,
25-17, 25-20, 25-20 win moves the Pandas to 11-2, while the loss
drops the Spartans to 5-6.
The Spartans came out strong to open the match and took the opening
set 25-19. TWU led 8-4 and 16-10 at the two breaks.
The Pandas got their game turned around in the second set to even
the match at 1-1 with a 25-17 win. Alberta led 8-3 and 16-10.
Alberta maintained their momentum into the next two sets, which
they took, by identical 25-20 scores.
The two teams will match up again tomorrow night. Match time at the
LEC is set for 5 p.m.
