Badgers perfect at U of Toronto NIT tournament
TORONTO - The Brock University women's volleyball team posted a
perfect 3-0 at the University of Toronto NIT Tournament with
victories coming against Winnipeg, Toronto and UNB. Brock was the
lone school with an undefeated record.
In the first match versus Winnipeg, player of the game selection
Erin Mercer (Rockwood, Ont.) led the way adding 15 kills and three
solo blocks. Senior libero Kaila Wiley (Mississauga, Ont.) added 23
digs.
In the second match against the host Varsity Blues, junior Shannon
Anderson (Newmarket, Ont.) was named player of the game after
registering 10 kills and eight digs. Freshman Tori Stirling
(Whitby, Ont.) contributed with eight kills in the victory.
In the Badgers third match versus UNB, Mercer earned her second
player of the game honours after registering 16 kills and 12 digs
for the double-double . She also added five blocks. Junior setter
Ally Fast (St. Catharines, Ont.) registered the double-double
adding 52 assists and 14 digs. Willey collected 20 digs to lead all
liberos.
