Mosher named Memorial head coach
ST. JOHN'S, NL - Memorial University Athletics has announced
that Mr. Terry Mosher, a former Sea~Hawk and the 2001 Volleyball
Canada Coach of the Year, will take over the reins of the Memorial
women's volleyball program for the 2009-10 season.
Mosher is eager to get his team on the court. He said, "I am really
looking forward to the season. We will have a young team but we
will be very competitive." Mosher has coached a few of the current
Sea~Hawks in the past. "We have talented athletes. There is no
question that we should make the playoffs. The AUS is a tough
conference but we can beat anyone."
Michelle Healey, Memorial's Director of Athletics, is excited that
a coach of Mosher's ability will be leading the women's volleyball
program. "I'm excited to have Terry move into the head coach role
of our women's team. Terry brings an extensive successful coaching
background and has had great success coaching female teams in the
past. We have a great group of returning athletes, which will be
complemented by some solid incoming talent. That combined with
Terry's leadership should be the foundation for a successful
season."
Mosher has been a successful coach in Newfoundland for several
years. He is a four time recipient of the Newfoundland and Labrador
Volleyball Association (NLVA) coach of the year award (1996, 1998,
2000, 2003). He is a former standout with the Memorial men's
volleyball program and is a 1976 Athletic Honour Society inductee.
