Warrior Sarah Sine to swim Lake Ontario for M.S.
WATERLOO, Ont. - On Aug. 1, two young women will begin their 52
km relay swim across Lake Ontario. At approximately 8 p.m., Sarah
Sine (Mannheim, Ont.) of the Waterloo Warriors, Jaime Doucet and
their crew will leave from the shoreline at Niagara-on-the-Lake to
begin their lake swim to raise funds and awareness for the benefit
of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Throughout the night they will take turns swimming the lake with a
plan of finishing at Marilyn Bell Park in Toronto during mid
morning of Aug. 2. Swim coach Joni, along with the girls' pacers,
will help them maintain a 2.5 to 3 km/hr pace, thus enabling them
to reach Toronto at approximately 10 a.m.
Obviously, such factors as weather, currents and lake temperature
will all strongly effect the outcome of the crossing, but it is
hoped that it will take the girls between 12-15 hours to
complete.
