UFV Cascades Captain Megan Webster signs with Victoria Highlanders of W-League

The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades Megan Webster, Abbotsford, BC has signed with the Victoria Highlanders of the W-league. The Cascades women’s soccer captain the past two years is graduating from UFV with a Bachelor of Arts, with a major in Criminal Justice. Over her five year career at UFV, Megan has led the Cascades in scoring twice, in 2010 with 8 regular season goals and 5 in 2011.
The veteran midfielder led UFV to the 2010 Canada West Gold Medal at the Canada West “Final 4” conference tournament, in Edmonton, Alberta. The title was the first UFV Championship in the six year affiliation with Canada West. Webster would also lead the Cascades to the school’s first CIS national medal, as they defeated the University of Montreal Carabins (RSEQ) 3-2 on penalty kicks.
“We are so proud of Megan. She has had a fantastic university career and she has been such a joy to coach. Her work-rate, ability and passion for success will allow her to succeed at the next level. Megan is a versatile player who can thrive in a variety of positions and systems. We look forward to supporting Megan as she takes her game to the next level,” said UFV head coach Rob Giesbrecht.
The W-League represents the highest level of Women's Soccer in North America with many of the best female players in the world participating. There are 30 teams playing in the W-league, eight are based in Canada, Hamilton, Ottawa, Laval, London, Quebec City, Toronto, Vancouver and Victoria.
