Gaiters close out women’s soccer season with loss at Laval

LENNOXVILLE, Que. – The Bishop's Gaiters women's soccer team suffered a 7-0 loss to the Laval Rouge et Or on the final day of the 2010 Quebec University Soccer League regular season. Marwa Chebbi and Gabrielle Verret scored two goals each to pace the home side as they cruised to the victory.

In addition to the braces by Chebbi and Verret, Maude-Nancy Durette, Nydia Morin-Rivest and Geneviève Prince also found the net for Laval. The Rouge et Or took 14 shots on goal in the game, with Gaiters' goalkeeper Molly Bucholtz (Peterborough, Ont.) making seven saves.

Third-year forward Stephanie Burnett (Durham, Conn.) was named the Gaiters' team MVP, while Jaclyn Fickett won similar honours for Laval. Audrey Letourneau made three saves to pick up the shutout.

The Gaiters finish the season in eighth place in the QUSL with a 1-11-2 record.
