by Andrew Smith, UVic Sports Info Assistant
VICTORIA - The UVic Vikes women's soccer team completed a series sweep over the CIS top-ranked Trinity Western Spartans with a convincing 2-0 win on Saturday afternoon.
Vikes' striker Kendra Flock was instrumental for the reigning Canada West champs notching a league-best 14th goal and assisting Frankee Bencher for the game's second tally.

In her final regular season match at Centennial Stadium, Flock hammered a 30th minute free kick into the top left corner to give the Vikes the lead. Flock's tally sets the single season scoring record at UVic surpassing Ali Bach's 13 goals scored in 2007.
In the 53rd minute Flock provided Bencher with a through ball that saw the freshman outsprint both her defenders to score.
The Vikes are the only team in the Canada West to defeat the reigning CIS Champs this season.
"Any win against Trinity Western is a good win," Vikes head coach Tracy David said after the match. "Today also gave us the opportunity to work on our attacking play as we prepare for next week."
Vikes ‘keeper Tanya Jones made three saves to earn the shutout with the home side outshooting the Spartans 18-9.
The Vikes finished the '09 regular season with a 9-2-3 record, good enough for second seed in next weekend's conference playoffs. Trinity Western will host the competition in Langley from Nov. 7-8.
