THINK PINK an unprecedented success

Thunder Bay, Ontario – The Lakehead women’s basketball team’s third annual THINK PINK night on January 22 was a success on and off the court as the Thunderwolves earned a 67-57 win over Guelph with a record $4400 raised in support of breast cancer and research through the Northern Cancer Fund of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation.

Fans, players, coaches and staff contributed through direct donations, THINK PINK t-shirt sales and Haul-a-Ball purchases to exceed the 2009 event’s fundraising tally by $300 with all funds staying in north-western Ontario.

"The annual WBCA Think Pink Game at Lakehead University, which raises awareness and funds for breast cancer research was a tremendous success,” said Thunderwolves head coach Jon Kreiner. “We won the game against Guelph and we are one step closer to winning the fight against breast cancer. Once again our team and fans really stepped up this year and I am proud of their efforts.”
