OUA roundup: No. 3 Lancers overwhelm Gryphons

WINDSOR, Ont. - The Windsor Lancers women's basketball team overwhelmed the Guelph Gryphons 79-43 on Wednesday night at the St. Denis Centre.

With the victory, the No. 3 nationally-ranked Lancers move to 16-1 in OUA play.

On Wednesday night, the Gryphons hung tough with the Lancers through the first quarter as they battled to keep it close at 14-14.

From there it was all Windsor as the home team outscored the Gryphons 17-7 and 28-4 in the middle two quarters to break the game wide open.

The Lancers built a 40-point lead in the fourth quarter as they cruised to the 79-43 victory.

Jessica Clemencon led all scorers with 15 points and four rebounds while Emily Abbott added 14 points and six assists.

Bojana Kovacevic chipped in with 12 points while Iva Peklova finished with 10 points.

Alex Russell (Paradise Valley, Ariz.) led the Gryphons (2-15) with 13 points.

MCMASTER 81, LAURIER 62

At McMaster, four different Marauders (11-6) scored in double-figures in an 81-62 win over the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks (7-10).

Taylor Smith (Hamilton, Ont.) led McMaster with 19 points, while teammates Taylor Chiarot (Hamilton, Ont.), Nicole Rosenkranz (Niagara Falls, Ont.) and Rebecca Rewi (Ancaster, Ont.) contributed 14, 13 and 12 points, respectively.

Renata Adamcyzk led the Golden Hawks with 19 points, and was one rebound shy of a double-double.

WESTERN 71, BROCK 51

At Brock, the Western Mustangs (13-4) downed the host Badgers 71-51.

Rebecca Moss (Waterloo, Ont.) led the Mustangs with 17 points and 15 rebounds for a double-double. Teammate Amanda Anderson (Dover Centre, Ont.) contributed 15 points.

Whitney Gorges (Welland, Ont.) led the Badgers (10-7) with 12 points.
