OUA roundup: No. 3 Lancers bounce back against Mustangs
LONDON, Ont. - The Windsor Lancers came from behind to defeat
the Western Mustangs women's basketball team 85-75 at Alumni Hall
on Jan. 20, with major contributions from a player who didn't play
in the first half and a Windsor-born freshman.
Windsor, ranked No. 3 nationally, improves to 12-1 to remain in
first place in the OUA West, while Western falls to 10-3 and
remains in second spot in the OUA West.
With the win, the Lancers win the season series 2-0 by a combined
score of 179-156. It was Western's first regular season home loss
of the 2009-10 season.
"Down the stretch we made some important shots," said Lancers head
coach Chantal Vallée. "They doubled our posts and it took us
a long time to adjust. Our guards have to perform and have to start
making some threes. Finally we started to shoot a little better and
it opened up the key."
