MONTREAL – Playing in the finals of the Reebok-Concordia Tournament, the No. 1 ranked Simon Fraser University Clan women’s basketball team won their school record 46th consecutive game on Thursday night, defeating the host Concordia Stingers 74-59.

The win breaks the previous mark of 45 consecutive games set between the fall of 2004 and fall of 2005. SFU’s current streak dates back to the fall of 2008, and includes their 2009 CIS national championship victory.

SFU led 23-13 after the first quarter, and 36-26 at halftime. Robyn Buna led the Clan with 18 points, shooting 7-of-12 from the field to earn Tournament MVP status. Laurelle Weigl and Kate Hole each added 17 points, respectively. Freshman Kristina Collins was also named to the All-Tournament team.

The Clan return to Canada West action on January 8, when they travel to Edmonton to face the University of Alberta.
