2010 CIS Womens Basketball Championship tickets now on sale
Hamilton, Ont - Tickets for the 2010 Canadian Interuniversity
Sport (CIS) women’s basketball championship are now on
sale.
The CIS women’s basketball championship will be hosted at
McMaster University March 12-14, 2010 at the Burridge
Gymnasium.
The event brings together the top eight teams from across the
country to compete for the coveted Bronze Baby, first awarded to
the CIS women's basketball champion in 1971-1972.
McMaster women's basketball head coach, Theresa Burns, in her 17th
year at McMaster commented that “we are proud to bring the
CIS women's basketball championship back to Ontario. The basketball
fans in our province will get another opportunity to see the best
women’s basketball held annually in our country. The
environment for the CIS championship is electric. When we hosted in
2003 the Burridge Gymnasium was packed, and we sold out the Friday
evening and Sunday afternoon sessions."
McMaster is guaranteed a berth in the CIS championship by virtue of
hosting the event, but would prefer to enter the tournament by
qualifying on their own merit. Coach Burns indicated that “we
are coming into the new year with a 5-3 record and we think we have
a solid chance at winning our division”.
The McMaster women’s basketball team will play in the CIS
Quarter-Finals on Friday March 12, 2010 at 6:00 PM EST regardless
of how they qualify.

from the 500 milestone.
