Former Brandon Bobcat Sanderson signs pro contract

BRANDON, MB – The last four years have been quite a ride
for Paul Sanderson. After a 15,000 kilometre journey from
Melbourne, Australia to Brandon, Manitoba, Sanderson has
accomplished what no other athlete in BU history has.
Now Sanderson is looking forward to making the jump to the pro
ranks after signing a contract that will see him land in
Switzerland this fall.
Sanderson has signed a deal with TV Schönenwerd of the Swiss
National league, and will begin training with the team full-time
next week.
“It’s a bit of a nerve-wracking experience, but now
that I know I’m going to a good team in a good league
it’s definitely exciting,” says Sanderson.
Sanderson set almost every offensive school record and now holds a
number of offensive records in the Canada West conference, leaving
his mark as one of the best volleyball players to compete in the
history of Canadian Interuniversity Sport.
What’s truly remarkable is that Sanderson shattered so many
career records in just four years – where as other record
holders did it in five. Add that to two CIS national championship
medals and Sanderson’s legacy speaks for itself.
“Records and awards are always nice to have but what
I’m more proud of is what we accomplished as a team,”
Sanderson remarks. “Being part of a team that went from four
wins to second in the country over a few short years is something
I’m very proud of.”
