OUA roundup: Gryphons upset No. 3 Marauders

 HAMILTON, Ont. - The Guelph Gryphons men's volleyball team has picked up a pair of victories to resume the 2010 portion of the OUA regular season, including a 3-1 (23-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-20) upset of the No. 3 nationally-ranked McMaster Marauders in Hamilton, Ont. on Saturday. 

Andrew Bartram (Aurora, Ont.) led the Gryphons with 22 points including 18 kills. Teammate Winston Rosser (Whitby, Ont.) contributed 16 points including 12 kills.

Jeremy Groenveld (Welland, Ont.) led the McMaster attack with 16 points, including 14 kills. McMaster (8-2) suffered just its second loss of the season and is now tied with the Queen's Gaels for second place, two points behind the frontrunning Western Mustangs (9-1).

The Gryphons improved to 7-4 and are now alone in fourth place. It was Guelph's second win in as many days, defeating the RMC Paladins 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-14) on Friday in Guelph, Ont.

Guelph was led by Rosser with 11 points including six kills. Teammates Jonathan Whitton and James Stamler contributed eight points apiece.

Winless RMC (0-11) was led by Phillip Gulajski (Ottawa) who earned 11 points, including 10 kills.
