Waterloo 1 UOIT 0 Final

OSHAWA, Ont. – UOIT's men's soccer team came within seconds of posting their second consecutive shutout on Friday night, but a Waterloo goal in extra time gave the Warriors a 1-0 victory over the Ridgebacks.

"Although we didn't come out with a point tonight, I was really pleased with the way our team played tonight," said UOIT head coach Vaso Vujanovic. "We had a strong game and caught an unlucky break in extra time. Our team continues to grow and get better every time we hit the pitch. The entire coaching staff is proud of our team's effort tonight."

With the team's going scoreless over ninety minutes of end-to-end action, Waterloo's Prescott Goldsworthy finally broke the draw as he managed to find the back of the net off a scramble following a corner kick, giving the Warriors the 1-0 victory.

UOIT goalkeeper Andrew Thompson had his best outing of the season, making 17 saves in the loss. Thompson had a shutout streak spanning over 180 minutes before Goldsworthy scored in extra time.

UOIT striker Justin Gordon gave the Warriors' defence all they could handle as he fired six shots in the game. Rob McMillan picked up the clean sheet for Waterloo, who earned their second win over UOIT this season.

UOIT falls to 1-5-2, but still remains only one point out of a playoff position. Waterloo improves to 4-4-0 and is in third place in the OUA west region.
