EDMONTON - The University of Alberta Golden Bears
followed an evenly fought first half with a strong offensive
outburst to take a 4-1 victory over the visiting Lethbridge
Pronghorns on a rainy Sunday afternoon at Foote Field in
Edmonton.

The road team struck first when freshman striker Blake Irvine, who
had a game-high five shots in the match, one-timed a waist-high
pass from senior defender Steven Brown in the 22nd minute. The
Golden Bears evened things up late in the first half when
fifth-year rearguard Harman Braich headed in an Ignacy Broda free
kick in the 43rd minute.
A total of 14 shots in the second half for Alberta came to a close when sophomore midfielder Andrew Hood got in alone and fired a shot along the ground to the far corner in extra time.
The Bears head off to B.C. next weekend to face the Victoria
Vikes and Fraser Valley Cascades. The 'Horns will return home
to host the Trinity Western Spartans and UBC Thunderbirds.

SASKATOON - Two first half goals resulted in a 1-1
tie between the visiting University of Calgary Dinos and the
University of Saskatchewan Huskies Sunday on Field 7 in
Saskatoon’s PotashCorp Park.

With the tie, both Saskatchewan and Calgary sit at 2-1-1 in the
standings.
The Huskies travel to B.C. to meet the University of Fraser Valley Cascades and the University of Victoria Vikes next weekend, while Calgary is at home to host the UBC Thunderbirds and the Trinity Western University Spartans.
