Exhibition: Ridgebacks pick up a win with a huge third period comeback

OSHAWA, Ont. – The UOIT Ridgebacks men's hockey team scored five third period goals in a 7-4 comeback victory over the Windsor Lancers at the Campus Ice Centre. This was the Ridgebacks first exhibition game of the 2010/11 season.

Tony Rizzi led the comeback charge for UOIT scoring the game winning goal and adding an insurance marker midway through the final frame. Freshman Luke VanMoerkerke picked up a goal and an assist in the third period rally while Scott Baker and Jeff Barletta also found the back of the net.

Baker had a good start to his season scoring two goals and adding an assist. Kyle Wetering and Barletta also had multi-point nights each with two apiece. Ryan Oliver was the other goal scorer for UOIT, scoring in the first period of his Ridgeback debut.

Jason Guy and Jacob Rattie split time in between the pipes for UOIT.

The Ridgebacks next action will be on the road Saturday night as they travel to Huntsville for an exhibition showcase against the Waterloo Warriors. The game is running as a part of CBC's Sports Day in Canada.

UOIT's home opener will be on Saturday, October 9 against the Laurier Golden Hawks. Game time at the Campus Ice Centre is 7:30 p.m.
