OUA roundup: No. 3 Patriotes, No. 5 Mustangs victorious

WINDSOR, Ont. - Keyvan Hunt (Coquitlam, B.C.) of the No. 5 Western Mustangs made 37 saves giving his team a star performance en route to a 6-2 win over the Windsor Lancers on Feb. 3.

With the win, Western improves to 19-6-0 for first place in the OUA West, while Windsor falls to 9-12-4.

Kevin Baker (Georgetown, Ont.)  scored a pair of goals, and Yashar Farmanara (West Vancouver, B.C.) had a four-point night with one goal and three assists.

Joe McCann (Essex, Ont.), Keaton Turkiewicz (Brantford, Ont.) and defenceman Ryan Martinelli (London, Ont.) added singles for the Mustangs.

Trailing 1-0 after the opening period, Western scored four second-period goals which proved to be the difference.

Matt McCready and Dan Reaume scored for the Lancers.

The Mustangs immediately prepare for a road game at Guelph (11-10-4) on Feb. 4 in the Royal City at 7:30 p.m.

UQTR 4, CONCORDIA 3, SO

At Concordia, Etienne Bellavance-Martin scored the shootout winner to lift the No. 3 UQTR Patriotes (19-3-2) to a 4-3 win over the host Stingers (7-15-3).

Maxime Frechette, Francis Charland and Alexandre Blais all scored for the Patriotes in regulation time.

Charles-Antoine Messier scored a pair of goals for the Stingers, while teammate Marc-André Element contributed a single tally.

RYERSON 3, TORONTO 2, OT

At Ryerson, Kevin Krasnowski scored the game winner with 31 seconds remaining in overtime to lift the host Rams (10-12-3) to a 3-2 win over the Toronto Varsity Blues (13-8-4).

Matt Schmermund and Alexei Dostoinov scored for Ryerson in regulation time.

Robert Kay netted both of Toronto's goals, his 13th and 14th of the season.
