Classique des Citadins – Day 1

Dynamo vs UQAM (Game #1)
The UQAM Citadins men’s basketball team (RSEQ) had a difficult start losing to the Dynamo, a top senior team from Montreal (Quebec) 76-61. Bobby Miller led the Dynamo with 17 points and 5 rebounds. On the UQAM side, it was Vincent Lancôt-Fortier that stood out netting 14 points and snatching 9 rebounds.

Bishop’s vs UNB (Game #3)
UNB Varsity Reds (AUS) overwhelmed the Bishop’s University Gaiters (RSEQ) 80-63. Matthew Daley and Alex Desroches of UNB combined for 36 points and 14 rebounds with 19 points, 4 rebounds and 17 points, 10 rebounds respectively. For the Gaiters, Mike Andrews tried to spark his team with a 14 points and rebounds performance.

McGill vs Lakehead (Game #5)
McGill University Redmen (RSEQ) pulled off a great fight against Lakehead University Thunderwolves (OUA, 3rd CIS), but that was not enough to pull the upset against this Ontarian powerhouse. They ended losing 83-69. On the Thunderwolves side, Ryham Thomson was brilliant with his 20 points and 6 rebounds. Karim Sy-Morissette stood out for the upset bidding Redmen by scoring 16 points and tossing 7 rebounds.

Classique des Citadins – Day 2

Dynamo vs Bishop’s (Game #2)
Montreal’s elite senior team, the Dynamo had another statement win, beating Bishop’s University Gaiters (RSEQ) 84-64. Forward, Charles Fortier collected 21 points and 12 rebounds for the Dynamo. For the Gaiters, rookie Mukiya Post dropped 19 points.

UNB vs McGill (Game #4)
McGill University Redmen (RSEQ) needed 3 overtimes to get the best out of the UNB Varsity Reds (AUS) 98-95. Second year center Tristan Renaud-Tremblay shouldered the Redmen with a 30 points and 10 rebounds performance. On the other hand, Daniel Quirion kept his team going putting 24 points and and taking down 3 rebounds.

UQAM vs Lakehead (Game #6)
The UQAM Citadins men’s basketball team (RSEQ) was one quarter short of running away with one of their biggest upset of the tournament. The Lakehead Thunderwolves (OUA) showed why they are seating at the 3rd spot of the CIS national ranking. Down 56-40 halfway through the 3rd quarter, the Thunderwolves turned on the machine and ran away with a 87-77 triumph. Starter Ben Johnson for Lakehead led his own with 31 points and 6 rebounds. Gregory St-Amand had 18 points and 6 rebounds for UQAM.
