MONTREAL - Both the UQAM men and women basketball teams will be in action this coming weekend, as they will each play three games. The women's team will be in Kingston at the Tindall tournament and will face Ottawa, Guelph, and the host team Queen's University. The men's team will play the Wilfred Laurier Hawks (Waterloo) on Friday, the Windsor Lancers (Windsor) on Saturday, and the Western Ontario Mustangs (London) on Sunday.

Jacques Verschure (8th season) has a full complement of players for the weekend. Both Michelle Auger-Bellemare (B.A in Accounting – Victoriaville, Qc) an Jessica Bibeau-Cote (B.A in Communications – Sherbrooke, Qc), who missed the tournament at Dalhousie, will be present. " Ottawa will be a real test for our team and both Queen's and Guelph will provide interesting match up problems", said coach Vercheuere.

On the men's side, Olga Hrycak (8th season) looks at this most difficult three game swing as valuable preparation for the upcoming season. This past weekend, the men's team was shut out at the Ottawa Gee Gees tournament, losing to St. Francis Xavier X-men, the Toronto Varsity Blues and the Ottawa Gee Gees. " Poor first half performances at both ends of the floor on offense and defense were the determining factors in our three losses. Our best effort was versus the Blues, where the game was tied with three minutes to go, but some erratic choices resulted in a six point loss.", commented Olga Hrycak.

On a positive note, Eric Cote-Kougnima (B.A. in Accounting – Gatineau, Qc) was selected as a tournament all star.
