AUS roundup: No. 4 ranked Capers sweep V-Reds to remain in first place
FREDERICTON, NB) - Despite being on the longest road trip of their season, fatigue was not a factor as the No. 4 ranked Cape Breton Capers Capers men's basketball team ran their unbeaten streak to 13 consecutive conference games to improve to 14-1 on the season. The Capers, who haven't lost a game since November 7th, are now 29-2 overall including 22-2 versus CIS teams this season.
In Friday's night's opener, the Capers locked down their defense while maintaining their CIS-leading scoring pace. CBU led after the first quarter of play 22-12 and increased their lead to 12 points heading into the break with the score 46-34. The third quarter saw the Capers keep control of the game as they stretched the lead to 20 going into the last ten minutes of play. The final quarter was back and forth but the Capers cruised to an 84-65 victory over the host Varsity Reds.

All twelve of the CBU players made the score sheet in the win.
Leading the way for the Capers was Jimmy Dorsey with 18 points, 4
rebounds and 3 assists, Scott Jaspers-Fayer with 16 points, 7
rebounds and also in double digits for the Capers was Paris Carter
with 10 points. UNB was led by Michael Anderson with 14 points,
Dustin Anthony with 13 points and in a big game Colton Wilson with
a near double-double after scoring 13 points and grabbing 9
rebounds.
In game 2, a Saturday matinee, UNB came out strong and took the
play to CBU, sending the Capers into the dressing room down at the
half for just the second time this season at 43-40.
No. 4 Cape Breton 94 at UNB 79 - Boxscore
CBU posted an outstanding third quarter, scoring 35 points while
holding the V-Reds to just 14 for a 75-57 lead at the end of the
third. The Capers cruised in the fourth quarter to record their
13th consecutive conference victory with a 94-79 win. Leading the
way was Scott Jaspers-Fayer with 15 points and 8 rebounds, Lasario
Burrows with 15 points, Tremaine Fraser with 13 points, 4 rebounds,
3 assists and Paris Carter with 13 points and 5 rebounds. CBU
scorign leader Jimmy Dorsey added 11 points and 4 rebounds while
Phil Nkrumah had 10 rebounds. UNB were paced by Michael Anderson
with 30 points and 8 rebounds, Colton Wilson with 18 points and
Andrew Wright with a near triple double with 11 points, 12 assists
and 8 rebounds.
CBU will take the court next weekend as they take on the UPEI
Panthers, who currently sit in the last playoff spot in the
conference. Games are Saturday the 13th at 8pm and Sunday the 14th
