OUA roundup: No. 7 Lancers upset by Waterloo 83-74

WINDSOR, Ont. - The Waterloo Warriors used a big 32-point second quarter to set the pace for a 83-74 win in OUA play against the No. 7 nationally-ranked Lancers in Windsor, Ont. on Wednesday. The Warriors started off the second quarter down by four points, but quickly established a lead they never relinquished. At the half, Waterloo led 50-37.

Throughout the second half it was mostly a 10 to 12-point margin with Windsor getting it down to eight once and Waterloo upping the margin to 16 on a couple of occasions.

Waterloo shot 13-of-36 from the three point line, while Windsor was just 1-of-20. Waterloo also had a rebounding advantage, grabbing 18 offensive rebounds to get many second chance points.

Cam McIntyre (Kitchener, Ont.) led the Warriors with 23 points and Ben Frisby (Vancouver) added 17 points. Windsor had four players in double figures, with Nigel Johnson-Tyghter providing 17 points and eight rebounds. Enrico Di Loreto scored 15 points.

With the win Waterloo improves to 7-4 in OUA West, while Windsor falls to 8-3. Waterloo travels to Guelph this Saturday to face the Gryphons. Catch all the action live locally on Rogers Cable 20 at 3 p.m.

MCMASTER 89, BROCK 67

At McMaster, the Marauders (6-5) bounced back from a couple of road loses against the No. 6 Lakehead Thunderwolves over the weekend, defeating the Brock Badgers (4-7) on home court 89-67 on Wednesday.

Cameron Michaud (Grimsby, Ont.) earned a double-double for the Marauders, scoring 26 points and adding 10 rebounds. Teammate Keenan Jeppesen (Stoney Creek, Ont.) contributed 18 points in the victory.

Brock was led by Clinton Springer-Williams (London, Ont.) who scored 19 points. Teammate Didi Mukendi (St. Catharines, Ont.) scored 18 points.

WESTERN 68, GUELPH 65


At Guelph, the Western Mustangs (7-4) won a nail biter against the host Gryphons 68-65 on Wednesday.

Western's Andrew Wedemire (Sarnia, Ont.) scored a game-high 22 points, while fellow Mustang Ryan Barbeau (Belleville, Ont.) scored 20 points.

Guelph (3-8) had three players who scored in double figures; Jonathan Moscatelli (19), Dan McCarthy (12) of Guelph, Ont. and Michael Petrella (10) of Brantford, Ont. Moscatelli (Toronto) earned the game's only double-double with 10 rebounds.
