TORONTO (CFL) - Frédéric Plesius insists
that he's a dominant playmaker. And the University of Laval
linebacker certainly backed up that notion on the biggest stage of
his football career.
The no.6 ranked prospect in this year's Canadian Draft registered
five tackles and took back an interception 37 yards for a touchdown
in the Rouge et Or's 41-38 heartbreaking loss to McMaster in the
2011 Vanier Cup.
The 6-foot-4, 240-pound Laval native carried over his momentum from
the big game into last month's CFL Evaluation Camp Presented by
Reebok. Plesius finished first among all linebackers with a 4.63
40-yard dash time and impressed scouts by pumping out 27 reps on
the bench press.
However, what may impress the said scouts most is Plesius' high
understanding of the game.
"I've got a lot of experience, I've been playing for 13 years so I
know the game. I've got great things to show," said Plesius
following E-Camp.
Heading into the May 3 Draft, Plesius boasts a strong list of
accolades. In 2011, he was named the RSEQ Defensive Player of the
Year and was also named a first-team CIS All-Star.
But just because Plesius won't find himself under the CFL spotlight
again until draft day, doesn't necessarily mean he'll be taking it
easy.
"I'm going to work out, work on some football stuff, my technique,
and I'll be ready for next season," he said.
