Sherbrooke earns first win of season

SHERBROOKE, Que. – Third year wide receiver Simon Charbonneau-Campeau's (Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que.) 75-yard touchdown reception early in the second quarter proved to be the difference as the Sherbrooke Vert & Or (1-2) downed the Mount Allison Mounties (1-1) 44-10 in CIS football action Friday night at the Université de Sherbrooke Stadium.

Campeau made seven catches for 183 yards, while rookie running back David Dumas-Goulet (Val d'Or, Que.) rushed for a 92 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the Vert & Or earned their first win of the season.

Fifth year quarterback Jean-Philippe Shoiry (Montreal) completed 17 of 28 passes for 342 yards and a major in game, while Mount Allison pivot Jake Hotchkiss (Lloydminster, Sask.) went 24-of-37 for 319 yards and a touchdown in the loss.

The Vert & Or travel to Quebec City to face the Laval Rouge et Or in their next contest on Sunday September 26, while the Mounties play the Saint Mary's Huskies on Saturday September 25 in a neutral site game in Moncton, N.B.
