CIS fall championship season kicks off next week

OTTAWA (CIS) – The 2011 Canadian Interuniversity Sport fall championship season gets under way next week with the best of CIS women’s field hockey competing for the McCrae Cup in Calgary and the top women’s rugby teams in the country battling for the Monilex Trophy in Peterborough, Ont.

The CIS field hockey and rugby championships, hosted by the University of Calgary and Trent University, respectively, are both scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 3 to Sunday, Nov. 6.

The CIS women’s and men’s soccer national tournaments will follow from Nov. 10-13, with the CIS cross country meet going on the same weekend, on Saturday, Nov. 12.

Football will wrap up the fall championship season as the Uteck and Mitchell Bowls will be played on Friday, Nov. 18, and the 47th Vanier Cup final on Friday, Nov. 25 at B.C. Place Stadium in Vancouver.
