Four former CIS athletes selected in inaugural National Basketball League of Canada draft

TORONTO - Former Windsor Lancer Isaac Kuon, along with Sherone Edwards of UPEI, Blain Labranche of UBC, and Nicholas Lother of Winnipeg selected in the 2011 NBL of Canada Draft.

Former Lancer men’s basketball standout Isaac Kuon was selected 10th overall by London in the inaugural National Basketball League of Canada draft on Sunday in Toronto.

Kuon was the first CIS athlete picked in the draft. Kuon was named a CIS all-Canadian, the OUA’s men’s basketball player of the year and an OUA first team all-star after an outstanding season on the court in 2010-11.

The Mississauga, Ontario native finished the regular season at the top of league stands in scoring, recording an average of 21.68 points per game. To accompany his 412 points over 19 games, he added 34 assists, 72 rebounds, and 32 steals, the Lancer forward made 77 of 91 free throws, and shot 45.7 per cent from beyond the arc.

- Blain Labranche, UBC selected 15th overall by Oshawa.

- Nicholas Lother, Winnipeg selected 17th overall by London.
