Call For Applications: Women's Soccer Staff for the 26th Summer Universiade
What: 26th Summer Universiade in Shenzhen, China.
When: August 12th to 23rd, 2011.
(Anticipated travel dates of August 6th to August 24th, 2011)
Team staff should also be prepared to travel domestically to attend
athlete tryouts, as well as potentially attend an overseas
preparation camp before the start of the Universiade. Dates to be
determined for both activities.
Who: The CIS will be sending a team of 20 players, 4 staff (Team
Leader, Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Therapist).
Funding: This opportunity is a self-funded event and, although
efforts are underway to seek sponsorship, this is not guaranteed.
Administration and organization of the trip will be facilitated
through CIS International Programs Services.
Positions Available: There are four (4) staff positions to be
filled for the team: 1 Team Leader, 1 Head Coach, 1 Assistant Coach
and 1 Therapist.
Criteria: Team Leader
a) Previous international or national team experience as a coach,
manager or athlete in soccer.
b) Previously demonstrated strong administrative and communications
skills.
c) Previous coaching (including assistant coach experience) or
playing experience in soccer at the post-secondary level.
d) NCCP level 2 coaching certification (or higher).
e) Previous experience at a FISU or similar event is considered an
asset.
f) Currently a head coach at a CIS institution
g) Bilingual (preferred).
Head Coach
a) Previous international or national team experience as a coach in
soccer.
b) Previous experience as a head coach in soccer.
c) Previous head coaching experience at the post-secondary
level.
d) NCCP level 3 coaching certification (or higher).
e) Currently a head coach at a CIS institution
f) Bilingual (preferred).
Assistant Coach
a) Previous experience as a coach in soccer.
b) Previous head coaching experience at the post-secondary
level.
c) NCCP level 2 coaching certification (or higher).
d) Currently a head coach at a CIS institution
e) Bilingual (preferred).
Therapist
a) Current member of the Canadian Athletic Therapy Association
(CATA) or Sport Physiotherapy Canada (SPC).
b) Bilingual (preferred).
c) Currently employed in a Canadian Interuniversity Sport
Institution (preferred)

Applicants for these positions:
Must be committed to providing a positive international sporting
experience for the athletes of Team Canada.
Must be active women's soccer coach at a CIS institution.
Must be able and willing to pay the full costs of participation,
including preparatory events and camps. Total cost is estimated at
$3300.
Must be available to participate at the Universiade as well as
travel to all athlete tryouts and preparation camps.
Must be willing to participate in event organization, including
liaising with Team Canada players prior to the event to ensure that
they are properly prepared for the Universiade.
Must attend 2010 CIS national championships at UPEI November 11-14,
2010 (therapist exempt)
