Laurentian and Laurier earn titles at Don Mills Open

The Warriors cross country team were at home this weekend for the annual Don Mills - Waterloo Open held on the north campus on Saturday under bright skies and cool temperatures.  Waterloo hosted five other University teams, six college teams and some independent racers.  Waterloo fielded 15 women and 17 men as well as Warrior alumni teams in the women's and men's races.

Both the women and men varsity teams finished second on the day with Laurentian claiming top spot on the women's side while Laurier took hope the top prize in the men's race.

Both team competitions were close and reinforced the rivalry with Laurentian on the women's side and Laurier on the men's.  At Western a week ago Waterloo was one place ahead of Laurier in the men's race and the women just ahead of the Laurentian team in the women's race.

Charly Allan (Kingston) led things for the men with a third place finish overall and he was the first University finisher.  Pat Mackinnon and Michael Stewart finished in the top five.

Kristen Flanagan (Kitchener) led the women with a fourth place overall finish and she was the second University finisher.  The other team scorers showed strong team running finishing in pairs as they did last week.  Karina Sils (Oakville) and Heather Dimond (Orangeville) finished within ten seconds of each other in 11th and 15th place, while Claire Lobsinger (Orillia) and Leslie Gray (Fort St. John) where within two seconds finishing 19th and 21st.
