2012 CIS Track and Field Championship logo unveiled

WINNIPEG - With less than 50 days and counting until the start of the three-day 2012 CIS T&F Championships hosted by the University of Manitoba Track and Field program at the Max Bell Fieldhouse (U of Manitoba campus) from March 8-10, the Championships logo has been unveiled.

This will be the first time that the Bisons have hosted this event since the 2004-05 season. Manitoba will now prepare to host this prestigious event for the sixth time as the Bisons also hosted a CIS Track and Field Championship in 1988, 1990, 1992, 1995 and recently in 2005.

This national championship will again involve the community as there is a call for local track and field teams/participants from elementary schools to run in events during the meet and also an opportunity to volunteer. To have your team/athletes get more information to be a part of this national event, please contact Bison track and field head coach Claude Berube at 204-474-8989.

Bison track and field head coach Claude Berube, in his 15th season, stated, “With the 2012 CIS Track and Field Championships logo out, it is another indication of the immediacy of the event and the final preparations to be ready to host and compete.”

Bison Track & Field Notes: There are two events this weekend for Bison T&F teams as they are split to compete at either the Athletic Manitoba Open on January 20-21 at the Max Bell Fieldhouse or at the Jack Johnson Classic in Minneapolis during the same days.
