No. 1 Lancers dominate Bob Eubanks Invitational

WINDSOR, Ont. - The Lancer track & field team dominated the Bob Eubanks Invitational, hosted by Grand Valley State University, this past weekend in Allendale, Michigan.

Both Lancer men’s and women’s Track & Field teams are now ranked #1 in CIS rankings.

On the track, the Lancer women swept the podium in both the 60m and 200m races. Nicole Sassine captured the gold medal in the 60m with a time of 7.73, with Billie Whitegibson placing second at 7.74 and Danielle Harrison in third with 7.81.

In the 200m, Noelle Montcalm grabbed her first or two medals with a first place finish, followed by Sassine in second, Harrison in third, and Iman Blackman grabbing the fourth spot.

Montcalm also placed first in the women’s 60mH in a time of 8.75 seconds. Charelle Anobile placed third in the race at 9.05.

In the 600m race, the women placed five Lancers in the top six spots. Melissa Bishop took the gold with a time of 1:31.30, while Raeleen Hunter placed second in 1:33.30. Andrina Slegers was fourth in 1:34.88, Heather Krupe was fifth (1:35.45) and Amanda Kanters was right behind her in sixth with a time of 1:35.72.

The team of Slegers, Hunter, Krupe, and Bishop also placed first in the 4x400m, while Dayna Pidhoresky was third in the 3000m with a time of 10:03.62.

On the men’s side of the track, the Lancers swept the top four in the men’s 600m final. Mitch Tome placed first overall in a time of 1:21.07, Dustin Eldridge placed second (1:21.41), Camilio Quevedo finished third (1:21.48) and Ben Lane placed fourth (1:22.13).

Dave Weston and Andrew Aguanno took the gold and silver medals respectively in the men’s 3000m final, while Adam Kellar was second in the 800m.

The foursome of Brendan Dills, Tom, Chris Reid, and Quevedo also placed second overall in the men’s 4x400m relay with a time of 3:16.50.

In the field events, Jaideene Lowe captured two medals for the women with a first place finish in the triple jump (11.75m) and a silver medal in the long jump (5.23m).

Khadiia Sheikh and Jackie Anderson helped sweep the podium in the women’s triple jump with second and third place finishes, respectively, while in the long jump Natoya Whittingham finished third and Ashley Drouillard placed fifth.

In high jump, Kelly Morrison placed third overall with a height of 1.57m.

In the men’s triple jump, Anthony Dandie placed third overall with a leap of 13.42m, while Mike Miller placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 16.09m.

The Lancers will now compete at the Findlay Invitational this Friday & Saturday.
