2012 Subway AUS Swimming Championship: Dalhousie men and women capture team titles

HALIFAX, NS - After three days of outstanding performances the 2012 Subway AUS Swimming Championship concluded at Dalplex this evening.

This year’s meet was filled with fantastic results and exciting finishes from athletes across the AUS. The atmosphere at Dalplex pool was contagious this weekend as swimmers set new records and achieved season-long goals. On the men’s side Dalhousie took the team championship title with 510 points, followed by Acadia with 135 and Memorial with 111. The Tigers also took the women’s AUS title with 575 points. Second place for the women went to UNB (192) and third place to UPEI (76).

Although there were many incredible victories in the pool this weekend, standout performances by Dal swimmers included three first place finishes by first-year Katie Webster in the 400m individual medley, and 400m and 800m freestyle races. Tigers third-year David Sharpe also took three first place finishes in the 200m butterfly and the 50m and 100m backstroke events.
