CIS and AUS men's basketball championship packages now on sale

HALIFAX, N.S. - Just in time for the holidays, ticket packages for the 2012 AUS and CIS men's basketball championships are now on sale!

The 2012 Subway AUS men's basketball championship will kick off the back-to-back weekend showcase of university basketball from March 2-4 while the CIS Final 8 men's basketball championship presented by Subway returns to the floor of the Halifax Metro Centre for the 26th time the following weekend (March 9-11).

Atlantic University Sport and the organizing committees of both championships are once again inviting all fans to continue to show their outstanding support and loyalty that has helped make these two events among the top most unforgettable university sport experiences in the country.

"In March of 2012, Canada's top university basketball teams will once again touch down in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and we are already working hard to ensure a welcoming and energetic atmosphere awaits all the participants," says Phil Currie, Executive Director of Atlantic University Sport. "The on-going support these tournaments receive from the basketball community, local business, government and media help make our product a great entertainment option for a deserving fan base. We look forward to once again providing the players with Canada's ultimate student-athlete experience."

Halifax's long history of hosting the high-profile CIS men's basketball championship speaks for itself. The event was staged in Nova Scotia's capital for 24 consecutive years from 1984 to 2007, and again in 2011.

The 2012 event will mark the second year of a two-year hosting bid by Atlantic University Sport, with the event having been awarded to Carleton University for 2013 and 2014.

The prices for ticket packages for both events has remained the same as 2011. Fans are encouraged to make their plans now to secure ticket packages for these highly anticipated events.
