Contract Position at Canadian Interuniversity Sport - Vanier Cup Event Coordinator

CIS is the national body of university sport in Canada. Fifty-two universities, over 10,000 student-athletes and 550 coaches vie for 19 National Championships in 11 different sports. CIS also provides high performance international opportunities for Canadian student-athletes at Winter and Summer Universiades, and World University Championships.

Skill Sets: CIS is looking for a creative and resourceful individual to assist with the hosting of one of our premier championships, the 2011 Vanier Cup. If you are a high performing hard worker with great interpersonal skills this contract will be of interest. The ideal candidate will have event management experience, a familiarity with CIS, an understanding of football event execution, and bilingualism is an asset.

Areas of Responsibility

The Vanier Cup Event Coordinator is responsible for organizing the special events outlined below associated with the 2011 Vanier Cup Championship. Working with the CIS Office staff (Ottawa) and MRX staff (Hamilton), the Event Coordinator works to ensure the successful planning, organizing and execution of the 2011 Vanier Cup to be held in Vancouver, BC on November 25, 2011. The successful candidate will work out of the Grey Cup Festival offices located in Vancouver, BC.

Position Type: Contract position from July 15 to December 9, 2011
Contract fee: Subject to qualifications and experience (in the range of $3,000 to $3,300 / month)
Supervisor: CIS Manager, Event and Programs with linkages to CIS Director of Marketing.
Miscellaneous: Workspace located at Grey Cup Office in Vancouver. Personal laptop required. Parking not provided.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide on-site coordination for Vanier Cup activities including an All-Canadian reception, Coach of the Year breakfast, on-site team support and sponsor activation events.

Specific Responsibilities:

1.1 Continue to build a positive relationship with the Grey Cup Organizing Committee, working on consultation with their team on the execution of Vanier Cup.
1.2 Liaise with CIS and MRX staff to ensure obligations related to the terms of the MRX-CIS agreement are fulfilled.
1.3 Activation of the CIS Grey Cup Platinum Sponsorship: booth(s) display(s), prizing, promotional items for Vancouver Sun Fan Fest and other Grey Cup Festival activities.
1.4 Work with the CFLPA on a CIS Ambassador program and brand recognition opportunities.
1.5 Coordinate the budget and logistics of the All-Canadian Pre-Reception to the CFL's Gibson's Finest Player Awards.
1.6 Coordinate the budget and logistics of the CIS Coach of the Year Breakfast.
1.7 Work with MRX staff re game day logistics.
1.8 Work with Grey Cup organizers re the involvement of CIS with the Grey Cup parade.
1.9 Assist with the "Trip to Vanier Cup" contest.
1.10 Lead set-up of CIS concourse booth at Grey Cup.
1.11 Liaise with Grey Cup organizers on CIS involvement with Street Festival activities, beer gardens, CFL Player Experience, Tailgate party, etc.
1.12 Conduct advance site visits to the host hotel, conference centre and BC Place.
1.13 Assume other responsibilities for CIS which may be assigned from time to time.
