Redmen steal winning point in extra end to defeat Western men, Mustangs women fall to Saint Mary's
EDMONTON - The Western Mustangs men's
and women's curling teams dropped their opening games at the
CIS/CCA curling nationals in Edmonton on March 10.
After a busy day of travel to Edmonton, the Mustang men looked to
be in complete control of their game against McGill, leading 5-2
after eight ends of play.
But what coach Rory Munro described as an unfortunate "pick" in the
ninth end allowed the Redmen to tie things up with a score of
three.
In the extra end, McGill rose to the challenge of stealing the
winning point for the 6-5 victory.
The Western women gave up three points in the sixth end and could
not recover, losing 8-6 in their opening game against Saint
Mary's.
Play continues Thursday March 11 with the men facing Saint Mary's
and UPEI, while the women face Regina and Brock.
