Emma Duinker

Duinker, a fourth-year sciences student from Cambridge, N.S., averaged 24 points per game over the weekend as the Axewomen evened their regular season record to 4-4 with home wins over Saint Mary’s, 71-50, and St. Francis Xavier, 80-75. The 6-foot forward opened the two-game set on Saturday with 23 points, eight rebounds and six assists in the victory over the Huskies, and followed up with a 25-point, nine-board effort against the X-Women on Sunday. The 2007-08 AUS rookie of the year, who was named player of the match following both contests, currently ranks third in the country with an average of 21.1 points per outing.
 
Hockey players Kim Deschênes of Montreal and Cara Wooster of Saskatchewan and Queen’s basketball player Hanna Koposhynska were also nominated for the women’s award.
